I'm glad Lindsey won your heart over as Hadassa. She must look so wonderful in this gorgeous dress. I do hope your camera will be 'off strike' soon and you can take pictures.

I have shared with you my Lindsey-bonding problems.
Well... they flared up again this week! I was ready to put her back in the box and keep her as an "investment doll".

I kept on having problems with her unruly hair, her greenish complexion (nope... two trips to AG hospital could not fix that one!) and her overall lack of a story (I soooo not like her book!!!)

Well... yesterday night I was reading an article on the book "Grandmothers" by Lauren Cowen and Jayne Wexler, when I saw the most unbelievable picture of a woman named Hadassa, who helped hide groups of orphans in the French Alps during the Holocaust.
I couldn't believe my eyes: her hair looked EXACTLY like Lindsey's!!! and that got the wheels turning.
How about allowing this doll to tell a different story, while keeping her heritage alive?

And to top things, today I received a Renaissance dress I got from ebay and tried it on Lindsey.... MAGIC!!!!

So, in a couple of days, when my camera decides to work again (sigh!) you will have pics of Hadassah (flowering myrtle), a jewish girl who escapes renaissance Spain due to persecution, and settles in London, where she makes a life and a living by being a wise woman (healer and midwife)
Got the idea for the rest of the story from "Uppity Women of the Renaissance"

My "new" girl looks so incredible! She even does not look greenish anymore!!! And now she has a story to tell, which she did not have before. And somehow, by naming this girl Hadassah, I am paying homage to an incredibly courageous woman that risked all for the little ones in the times of great need.

Yup... she is not going in the box anytime soon!!!!

Here are Hadassah's pics! Enjoy!!!

Hadassah was also the name of Esther (Hadassah was her Hebrew name and Esther her Persian, i think) in the Bible. She became queen and saved all the Jews in Persia!

Thanks to all for your comments on Hadassah.
The more I look at her the more she seems like a totally different doll!

What do you think of her pics?
